Participants of the NORDC/NOBA Center For Dance Fitness/Dance Program for senior citizens have been selected to perform in the Opening Celebration of the Senior Theatre USA 2012 Festival & Conference on Sunday, June 3 at Harrah's Casino Main Theatre.

Following a reception at 6pm, the "Jazzy Seniors" dance team from St. Bernard NORDC Center will perform the two dances that earned the group a gold medal at this year's Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics held in February. Seniors from the program at Behrman NORDC Center will also be featured, and both groups will join together for an exciting second-line themed finale. After the performance, long-time musical theatre veteran Patti D'Beck will lead attendees in a quick, impromptu introduction to Senior Flash Mob dancing in preparation for the senior Flash Mob on Wednesday, June 6, 12:15pm in the Harrah's courtyard. The Flash Mob is open to all senior citizens in the community.

This national, four-day festival will bring together over 250 seniors from around the country in a week of workshops by professional instructors, performances, and opportunities for participants to learn, develop new friends, and share talents with like-minded seniors.

Senior Theater USA is an organization that produces and promotes theater festivals for seniors in the United States. The first Senior Theatre USA Festival was hosted by the University of Nevada-Las Vegas in 1993, marking the first mobilization of senior theatre on a national level.
