JPAS to Present THE LITTLE MERMAID and URINETOWN in Upcoming Season

The Jefferson Performing Arts Society (JPAS) will kick-off another summer of Youth Musical Theatre on the East and West banks at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie and the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre with it's June productions.

Kids in 3rd-7th grades will present the LOCAL PREMIERE production of DISNEY’S THE LITTLE MERMAID, JR. June 22, 23 at 7:30PM & June 24 at 2PM at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center (EJHS Auditorium, 400 Phlox Ave in Metairie). Frannie R. Buchtel directs with choreography by Nicole Eckrich Dwyer, musical direction by Kimberly Hillard and production design by Edward R. Cox. 

Teens in grades 8-12 will star in the Broadway hit URINETOWN, The Musical  at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre (177 Sala Ave. in Westwego) June 29, 30 at 7:30PM and July 1 at 2PM. Matias Grau, III directs, with choreography by Katie Lizana and musical direction by Alan Payne.

Tickets for both productions are $10 for Kids (12 and under), $12 for Students (with ID)/Seniors(65+)/Military, and $15 for Adults. For tickets visit www.jpas.org or call 504-885-2000. Summer Youth productions are not included in season ticket packages.

This summer over 150 kids and teens will participate in the JPAS Summer Youth Musical Theatre Intensive. Kids and teens spend three weeks rehearsing and learning what it takes to put on a full-musical at the JPAS Youth Musical Theatre Intensive. Their work culminates in these performances for the public. JPAS Summer Youth Musical Theatre continues throughout July with two new sessions of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID, JR., this time at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre and URINETOWN at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center in Metairie.
